Music Editing Build for Dad - Page 2

My god you nearly doubled his original budget...

Stop with the "future proof" already. The term is too loosely thrown around these days.

It's a PC for his dad to edit music and be able to multitask a bit. If you can't pick out a rig for these simple needs for less than $600 your not really doing the guy a favor imo.

Thread Starter
Hey thanks for the suggestion everyone. I think I'm going to stick with the AMD APU, I like that I don't need a GPU and the iGPU performs better than intels offerings.

I guess I need to head over to the audio section to find a suitable sound card.

MrAwesome, I think your build is the direction I want to go. I might skip on the SSD for now but everything else looks good. I'm not sure my Dad really needs an SSD, I know how awesome they are but I don't know if he will want to spend the extra money.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

I knew it was expensive, I said that. I posted one earlier that was inexpensive and good for what his Dad needed, but options are not a bad thing, especially when there is no budget other than "not outrageously expensive", why not present the OP with more options, like an expensive one and an inexpensive one? Who knows how much power the Dad wants out of his PC. Also, I am not throwing around the term "future proof" loosely, imo, 16GB of RAM, 250GB SSD, good HDD are pretty future proof.... Not trying to sound argumentative, but your phrasing sort of put me on the defensive.

The build you posted is good though and it will do everything needed. That Seagate Barracuda is a steal. It is also nearly identical to the one I posted earlier in the thread with the APU. Cheers.
