Best advice I can give you is to take your time. Completely remove any hardware from the case prior to cutting. Metal shavings will go literally everywhere. It is quite difficult to get a dremel/cutting wheel inside the drive bays to make square cuts so I had to do a lot of filing after the initial cutting to make it look acceptable.

UPDATE: Obviously some large changes have been made. Long story short I wasn't happy with overall look of the computer so I went for a completely different look. Luckily some sweet deals came along the way of swapping everything over to the new setup.

First to come was the Asus Maximus V Extreme and my 3770K(pictured previously). Then it became obvious that the blue themed Corsair ram and psu had to go. What arrived in place of those items was the Corsair Dominator Platinum 2133 mhz ram and the Corsair AX860 power supply.

Second choice I made was to do away with the Swiftech Apogee Drive II. I was tired of dealing with the PWM control problems so I went with a Alphacool VPP655 pump with the HF top and a EK Supremacy CPU block. The pump is manually adjustable and the EK block looks amazing.

Here you can see the new setup starting to come together. Notice every fan has been replaced with Schythe Gentle Typhoon AP-14 fans. They are truly quieter than any fan I have used to date and perform better at all fan speeds as well.

CYMERA_20130831_133155.jpg

Here is the finished product for now. I reused the EK reservoir for the time being. This will most likely be extended and moved down onto the pump and make the top of the res the inlet. The outlet for the pump travels all the way up to the CPU block for now. Once I incorporate the video cards into the loop the current pump outlet decision will make more sense.

That is what I call a clean build... I really love it smile.gif
If you are planning to cool them GPUs as well you could probably stick the 120x45mm rad where you have got the exhaust and another 120 maybe 140x45mm rad on the bottom where you have got the pump at the moment, moving the pump on top of the rad... smile.gif
P.S. Very good choice of rads and fans, not so good with the CPU block, I would personally go with Koolance CPU-380i or Phobya UC2, but now I have been stuck with Supremacy too wink.gif

Thank you for the kind words! I really appreciate it! Alphacool makes some seriously nice products...I can tell you like them as well. smile.gif The main reason I chose the EK cpu block is because they make the "Naked Ivy" add-on for it. After I do some benchmarking I plan to delid my 3770k to give the Naked mount a try.

The choice on additional radiators is still up in the air. Your suggestions are right on point of what I've had running through my mind. There will for sure be a second radiator mounted in the top of the case. With minor modification the Alphacool XT45 240mm rad will fit with one set of fans. Depending on how my temps looks after that I may go for additional rad space.

Another interesting idea I have running around in my head is to change over to the Fractal Arc XL. This case supports 360mm rad mounting in the top without modification in addition to 240mm rad mounting in the front. Just depends on when they are released to the US.

Ok so I got a little ballsy today and decided to delid the 3770k. I used the razor blade method simply because I couldn't get to a vise today.

Here is the 3770k with the lid off:
CYMERA_20130902_145114.jpg

All cleaned up and ready for paint(CLU):
CYMERA_20130902_150109.jpg
CYMERA_20130902_165538.jpg

And of course I forgot to take a picture of the CLU before applying the IHS. rolleyes.gif

Back together:
CYMERA_20130902_151315.jpg

Testing:
Both tests were done at 4.8Ghz with 1.352V Vcore. Thermal compound used between the IHS and waterblock was Gelid GC-Extreme. Temperature readings were taken with RealTemp and stress testing was provided by Prime95(small FFTs). Prior to delid, max recorded core temp was 85 degrees C. After delid, max recorded core temp was 65 degrees C. An honest 20 degree drop in overall temp. Needless to say I am very pleased.

OOPS:
This is where the interesting part gets told. Before adding the CLU and putting the IHS back on I attempted to use the "Naked Ivy" mounting system.

CYMERA_20130902_150714.jpg

If you look close, the CPU hold down cage is gone. This is required to allow the waterblock to touch the CPU itself. So I applied a rice grain of Gelid GC-Extreme thermal compound and installed the waterblock. Upon firing up the computer, I was met with constant reboots and BSODs. Decided to take it back apart and inspect. Found about 7 bent CPU pins...doh.gif Naturally I was like what am I going to do now. 30 minutes passed and I managed to straighten the pins with a very small screw driver and flash light. thumb.gif

Best advice I can give anyone that wants to use this mounting system is to make sure you don't have anything connected to your waterblock so you can be certain that it will tighten down in an even fashion. I left the tubing connected to mine and it caused the waterblock to be pulled down toward the PSU before tightening even began. This resulted in very poor cpu-to-socket seating and caused the pins to bend in an abnormal direction. Learn from my mistakes.

Now it is my turn to grow some hair on my chest and do it wink.gif Just ordered CLU on the Bay and will pop over to the local shop for some razor blades. I know that Haswell is a bit more complicated as it has got those VRMs sticking out there under the IHS...
