Finally got my XBOX360

Wow, what a trip. I'm glad it's over.

I bought my XBOX360 yesterday, hooked it up, and waited for the startup screen, which seems to be taking a while to finish, only to get an E67 error. So I look it up online and see that means the hard drive is dead, malfunctioning, etc. So I take the hard drive off and it boots fine. Then I turn off the XBOX, put the hard drive back on, turn the XBOX360 back on, and the error comes back. I was just curious so I checked the date, 6-30-06 I believe it was.

So I went to exchange it today and see that there are new Premium boxes out that have Burnout Revenge included. The employee in games tried to say I couldn't exchange my Premium for the bundle since I didn't get a game with mine. I just said listen guy, I'm just gonna get a refund for my Premium and buy this new one since it's the same price, so get a manager to ok a straight exchange and things will be kosher.

So we do that and I get home to find that there's no game in the box and there are scratch marks showing that the box had indeed been opened. Not to mention the date was 6-13-06, something like that. I checked the box and noticed it was actually a normal Premium box with Burnout Revenge stickers and that it had been opened so I'm assuming the Premium boxes were sent back to Microsoft's facilities, opened so someone could put an OEM DVD of Burnout Revenge inside and then sealed back up and shipped out. I just wasn't having that.

So right after I got home with my second XBOX, I found out everything I just said in the above paragraph, open box, no game, etc.; so I go back to do one last exchange. This time I found a normal Premium box without Burnout Revenge that was dated 6-26-06 and I talked to manager into giving me an actual copy of Burnout Revenge, case and all, separately. I get home with the third XBOX360 and it boots up fine and I've been playing around with it since about 8 PM PST. My future wife and I were playing Burnout Revenge for a while so I'm glad to see nothing has gone wrong with the XBOX yet.

I'm not really a fan of racing type games but Burnout Revenge is somewhat addicting when all you want to do is destroy stuff.

No real point to this story, I suppose it may fit into the Rants and Raves section but I'm just typing this up at 3:30 AM PST because I'm finally done toying around with my XBOX360 and I'm not being picky about where I post. Plus I'm typing a million miles an hour so this story may not be as cohesive as it could be. It was going to be a rant but I'm not as pissed as I was Wednesday night with the first XBOX360. Now I'm pretty content. I'm waiting to try Gears of War until I've pushed the 360 with Burnout Revenge for a little while.

Wow, I just pressed submit to see how big this post was because I haven't been checking and sheesh, it's enormous.

Its funny because I had a similar problem when I got my original xbox. lol

Glad to hear things worked out for you. Im going to wait for Assasin's Creed or Halo 3 to come out, to purchase my X360.

PS - You may already know this, but to be on the safe side - keep the power bar AWAY from the console, and keep it off carpeted floors - just to be safe

I waited until the end of 2003 to buy the first XBOX and I really got my money's worth. It's modded and has basically been running 24/7 since I bought it. XBMC, Live, you name it, I enjoyed the crap out of that thing. I decided not to wait for the big console price drops this time around but I may hate that decision so over the next 90 days I'll decide whether the XBOX360 is worth keeping. If not, I'll return it or sell it to someone.

When it comes down to it, I admit Gears of War is the only game I'm interested in. So I'll wait and see if it's enough to make me want to keep my 360 until Halo 3 comes out. I don't want a $ 400 investment going to waste by not playing it.

I've already downloaded the demos for Tony Hawk Project 8 and Battlefield 2: Modern Combat on Live so I'll see how fun those are. The time limits on demos is a bit absurd though. I had to create a new silver account because I don't remember all the information on my actual Live account so I can't get my gold subscription migrated just yet.

And yes, there's no need to warn me. The power brick is by itself, off the floor and completely ventilated.

Honestly, Burnout really won't stretch the limits of the 360, at least not in my own personal opinion. Try Oblivion or as you said earlier, Gears of War. Both are great games and you should have fun with both.

Oh definitely, Burnout Revenge is nothing spectacular but since I got it for free, I'm not complaining.

I have Oblivion for my computer so I don't plan on getting it for my 360.

I bought Gears of War when I bought the 360. I'm not going to play it until I grab another controller for coop with the female.

I played the demo of Chromehounds and I can say I'm not interested. I don't really like mech games to begin with but gameplay and graphic wise, I wasn't impressed.

If I hadn't already played Burnout Revenge to death on the XBox, that bundle might be enough to get me to buy an X360. Usually bundled games are ones that I simply flat-out do not care about. E.g., Best Buy.com is offering GRAW in a bundle, but I couldn't care less about war games. But Burnout rocks, I had many fun hours with that one.
