or

try this How to Enable or Disable the Built-in Elevated Administrator Account in Windows 7 after you done it log as admin try clean the drivers reboot log as admin and try installing it again

ps : if the problem is the admin permissions it should be fixed

Just tried installing older drivers. Update components is failing on that too.

can you reinstall windows? if are apprehensive at going that route, deleting everything and starting over but it doesn't help; then make a partition on you HD by shrinking what there, do a fresh installation and if everything goes well, consider reinstalling on the SSD.

Though it might be the issue here, I don't think my admin account is really corrupt. That was the elevated admin, a whole different user from my normal admin (my main account). I've never had any issues with my account, other than the occasional file is in use so I can't delete it (even though I'm sure it's not). That's when I started taking a look at taking ownership of the drives, but never got anywhere with it. I've never had any problems with it besides that, so I won't be doing a reinstall.

But I am honestly stumped how to fix this. I've tried literally everything so far.

I was wrong, you were spot on, actually. Although there are no problems in the foreground, I have major account/permission issues in the background (which I didn't know until now between the nvidia and making a new account).

Basically the elevated admin was giving me a ton of messages, so I tried creating a new user (admin account) and got another problem. Someone else wrote this but this is the same problem I am having.
Quote:
I have attempted to create a new user account, but I receive the following error when I try to log on with it:
the user profile service service failed the logon
Before I go any further let me add that I have activated the hidden administrator account and that is the account I am using to create the new standard user account.
Most of the fixes for this issue are due to the fact that manually deleting a user account does not delete the registry key associated with it, and you are required to go to the following section of the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS NT\CURRENTVERSION\PROFILELIST
and delete the key associated with the user account you wish to remove.
This fix DOES NOT help, because whenever I attempt to create a new user, Windows does not bother creating a registry key for the new user. The new user account only shows up in the accounts management window. If I right-click My Computer and select Properties , then Change Settings , select the Advanced tab, and click Settingsunder USER PROFILES , the new account does not show up here either.

How does this explain my issue I'm having with Nvidia? In a way, Updatususer is a "user", and since new users can't be created on my OS, that's why it's failing.

I can't use any of the fixes because the actual new user account doesn't show up in my registry. So I guess I'll have to reinstall. I'm not reinstalling because I want Geforce experience to work. My OS probably has a ton of errors (although chkdsk said I had none). I haven't noticed anything wrong in daily use, but it's probably better if I just do this to be on the safe side. My drive has been cloned from another SSD, so maybe something got screwed up there.

sfc /scannow did report that there were some corrupt files and that it fixed them, but the problem still persists. Sigh. On the bright side, I'm updating all my 2 year old motherboard drivers and BIOS for the 1st time, lol.

I'll report back in a couple of hours. I'm about to back my program files up.

Not to worry, there isn't much data on my drive that hasn't been backed up already (schoolwork and pictures on dropbox and google drive). Just had to move some music, a few games, and my Skyrim mod work. Programs can be reinstalled. It'll take a while though tiredsmiley.gif
