Need Urgent Advice on 680i MB!!

Thread Starter
Been running an Asus P5N32-SLI Premium for a few Weeks now, for unknown reasons, it toasted last night. After 3 hours of research, testing and doing everything I knew to od, I still get the BEEEEEEEP, Beep, beep code on start, saying GPU problem.

After putting in a 7950GX2, a 7900GTX, and a 7600GT.. all to no avail.. I am pretty sure it aint the GPU. So I am going to send the MB back.

Figured I would grab a cheapo $80 board to get me through while waiting.. buuuuuuutttttt.. I am using NVRAID, and a C2D CPU.. the C2D CPU's wont run on the cheapo MB's. And unless I want to hose my install, I need NVRAID on the MB.

I found a BFG 680i board locally.. from reading, the EVGA and BFG 680i boards have had some troubles.. can I get some advice? Planning on going and getting it at noon.. but want to hear some good and bad before I drop the cash.

thanks in advance.

Robert

I think the boards you're talking about cost more than $80, so are you going to get a 680i which will probably be more like over $200 then?

Also, if you have a 590 chipset and now you're considering a 680, ask the people at the place where you're considering in buying this cheap $80 MoBo, IF they both come with the exact same South-Bridge, because otherwise it may or it may not work.

Different chipset could not make the RAID work either.

I know I had that issue once, so I had to painfully install everything again.

Actually the $80 option was a stop gap, Non SLI or NVIDIA, single PCI-E slot solution, until I got an RMA done.

the 680i boards were $230-$250 range. But I ready about serious data corruption problems on em. So I wanted advice prior to dumping the cash.

However, after doing some research this morning, it appears Nvidia has released a beta bios update for the Nvidia reference boards which appears to have fixed the issue. So I think I am good.

So I am now a member of the 680i family.. sigh

actually found the BFG 680i board LOCALLY ina s tore in BFE Tallahassee Florida! ***? lol

so I am going to install it and the bios update, will report back on my findings.
