That Scythe Cooler is pretty dang good.

Why not go WC if you want to be silent?

Well, for a couple of reasons:

Generally tends to be more expensive... and less "hassle-free". Besides, the 2 intake/exaust fans make some noise too.

The reason for the whole thing is my secondary rig's exaust fan crapped out, and I was on the stock intel cooler. Preslers do heat up, the rumors are true.

So I was going to move my AC7 to the D915, buy a cheap exaust fan, and buy a new cooler for my folding rig, which lives in the same room as I do.

The Ultra 120 is known to be excellent, but it's also has sky high pricing. And it's not in stock.

I have to wait for the boxing day sale at NCIX before making my final decision it's at 4PM PST.

EDIT: In a suprise last minute decision, I decided I'd give myself the trouble of removing the motherboard. I went with a big typhoon. It's known to be relatively quiet, will also help in cooling the S3's northbridge, and all in all will be a superior cooler to my AC7.

It was relatively inexpensive, and because I already have 2 x FM121's, I might move some of the fans around

Better price than Noctua, Scythe, and Thermalright Ultra 120.

Thanks for everybody's input. As always, it's greatly appreciated.

Jimmy
