Why the hate for apple here? im a pc gamer, and i own a nice desktop for my gaming needs, but i also own a mbp retina, and i love it!! I'm not biased, but i do love me a great laptop, excellent design, and im a sucker for high res monitors, so it was my dream come true, but remember i am also a gamer, i have been wanting a regular macbook for a few years now, but then the retina came out, i finally bought one off of craigslist for 1600 (killer deal) i loaded up windows on it, and installed my usual core temp, hwmonitor, gpuz, fraps, and steam, and loaded up some Medieval Chivalry, League of legends, Trine 2 (little more demanding then you think) and started testing, and i was afraid, it was getting REAL HOT, 99-105C HOT, so i opened up my cpu-z, and intels turbo was enabled, it was staying at a constant 3.5, so i went into power management and set processor to 99% (which essentially disables turbo and sets it to a permanent 2.6ghz) i than loaded up my games, and with the fans on high (which should be the case for all laptops gaming or not) i was getting a max of 70-80C with hours of gaming (borderlands 2 included) and NO i was not playing at NATIVE RES, that would be stupid of me, but i also have a 1440p monitor at home, and when i downscale res on that dell to 1080 i notice a HUGE difference, quality wise, it just does not look right, blurry and such. but when i set it to 1920x1200 on my mac under windows in my games settings, it still looks damn crisp and good, really sharp and vibrant, on medieval with all the settings maxed i get a solid 60fps at 1200p, and trine 2 is the same (actually effects are on high, not very high)
TLDR: macbook retina get to 80c max after hours of gaming, when the turbo is disables with no loss in fps, and i was able to push some nice settings with majority at near 60fps, also compared to my Dell 1440 ultrasharp, when i set res to other native, it looks sharp and nice still, beautiful to my eyes, unlike my dell i have to play games at 1440p or else i notice a huge difference, blurry, jagged (even with aa cranked up)
I love tech, im no dedicated fanboy, i own a gaming pc, macbook pro retina (wich i use windows and osx on) and a nexus 4, i love good tech when i see it.
The msi also looks nice, but 17" is too much for me, if they were to make a 15" version, that would be epic
