And a card isn't "supposed to die" from an LED dongle dropping on it because its defective. If you had a defective card, you would've noticed it far before this accident. You'd either have artifacting at stock, severe temperature problems, or just flat out a dead card to begin with. And from the looks of what you said in your OP, it was working just fine before this happened. So the card was most definitely not defective.

And I don't mean to be rude, but did you ever think that maybe some of the reasons your Gigabyte products might have died could have been due to user error or freak circumstances (like the LED light, which admittedly, I know first hand the adhesive strips on those suck)? Did it ever occur that accidents can and WILL happen from time to time?

iam not new in pc computer building.
I have over 10 year exp..
i never connect or disconnect led or other parts when the pc is power on . also i aways remove the power cable. when i do some work.
SO this situation is really strange,

i never put heatsink to cool down the vram but any way i had a fan pushing air not it,
any burn marks.
Any way the pc was power on for only 5 min so the vram wasnt so hot.
Also my case is well cooled with 5 fan, one under the vram
