Z77 vs Z87?

Thread Starter
I'm doing an M-ATX gaming build for a friend and he's cool with buying used if it saves him money or gets him more performance. Obviously there are no used Haswell CPUs around so I was considering buying a used SB or IB CPU instead. Taking into account the fact that Haswell doesn't seem to OC as well as IB (which in turn is harder to cool than SB), I see no performance downside to doing that (I even found a used 2600K for $200 vs a new i5 4670K for $280).
Before I go for the i7 which I think is a total bargain compared to Intel new prices (hell, this wouldn't be an unreasonable price for a used i5), are there any advantages to the Z87 chipset? Besides the obvious extra SATA 3 connectors.

Google is your friend.

Better built in audio is another thing that comes to mind. I think faster ram support too. Also haswell may not overclock as well, but is faster at the same clocking. My understanding is IB and haswell both suffer the same temp issues as a result of how the chip and cover are not put together the best. Im running my 4770k at 4.4Ghz 1.222v and it hits 70c load now, high 20's idle. Im happy with it and Z87
