catalist control centre is confused, so is Asus GPUtweak.

I have a HD6950 crossfired with a HD6970. SaphireTrix, Asus GPUTweak and Catalyst control centre all confuse the two cards.
For example, If I want to turn down the GPU memory of the HD6950 I can not because the software displays it as the HD6970. The minimum memory setting on the 6970 is 1375mhz and it won't go any lower, but the actually minimum memory on the 6950 is 1250mhz. So I have to permanently have my HD6950 overclocked at 1375mhz. It is not supposed to clock that high, it's max is 1325!
Each card is displayed as the other.
I had this problem on my Z77 board and I still have this problem on my new Z87 board.

Anybody come across this issue before?

You cant crossfire the cards as they are different cards BUT you can change the BIOS on the 6950 to make it into a 6970 then you can crossfire both cards correctly

When its the same series doesn't the 6970 just run at the 6950 speeds?

nop, to crossfire you have to have the same cards for example I could cross fire a 6970 with a 6970 but I cant crossfire with a 6870 with a 6970.

But with the 6950 there is a BIOS MOD were it can change the 6950 to a 6970 if im correct then you can crossfire tongue.gif

You can crossfire the 6950 with the 6970. They are the same series. I new this anyway but to be sure I checked AMD website and they are listed as cards that will crossfire.

I unlocked the shadders last year. I used the modded bios not the 6970 bios, as this is the safest way to do it.

The problem is, the 6950 memory settings will not go below the 6970 values but the 6970 memory will go down to 6950 values. So obviously all the software is getting the two cards mixed up. 1375mhz is too high for the 6950 to run at, it should only run at 1325mhz max. While it actually runs ok at 1375mhz, I would like to be able to turn it down when I'm gaming so I'm not stressing the card to much.

I think there is a registry mod but I can't find it. I was hoping some one here mite have herd of this problem before and know where I can find the mod.
