[Overclock Question] Overclocking 1333 Mhz CL9 value ram.

Hello everybody!

I want to know if it's possible to overclock my Kingston 1333 Mhz CL9 value rams to 1500 or even 1600 Mhz. My cpu is AMD FX X8 8350 and motherboard is Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD5. I'm open to any ideas smile.gif

Model number of the rams: KVR1333D3N9/4G

You can give it a shot.
I wouldn't expect too much, though.

Bus overclocking would be your best bet since you have a much more granular approach to adjusting the RAM frequency on a certain divider.

It most certainly is. At those timings, you could just try setting the RAM divider in the BIOS such that it runs at 1600 MHz. Being value RAM, it could be it's really bottom of the barrel in regards to binning, but I still think 1600 should be possible.

Well even 1500 would be awesome for my case. I honestly don't think there would be a huge difference between 1500 and 1600. So Instead of spending my money on 1600 mhz rams i decided to give this thing a try. If it works i'll probobly get couple aftermarket ram heatsinks and use it as it is. Thanks for the responses smile.gif

Post a pic of the ram's part number and a close up of the ram chips themselves and somebody might be able to tell if you could over them to said speeds.

Samsung wonder ram for example are 1600Mhz CL 11 and overclock to the moon, like 2400Mhz CL10 in some cases.

Model number is: KVR1333D3N9/4G

And the picture of the rams: http://m1307.hizliresim.com/1c/m/qhcw7.jpg

They are slim sticks.

Just give them 1.6v and shoot for 1500Mhz, even try 1600Mhz I think they should do 1500Mhz though.

1.6v won't hurt them.

My 1333MHz runs at 1467MHz by boosting the FSB.
