Here's what I have in my stock...

Intel:

EO Northwood 2.4 (untested)
SL Northwood 2.4 (untested)
(mobile) 2.5 w/ 25X multi hits 3ghz on air
EO Prescott 3.0e (HyperThreading) hits 4.2 ghz on Water
D805 you know the story--sky is the limit with the right board; 3 ghz on air so far...
D820 3.2 ghz on air

AMD:

s754 Clawhammer 3200+ 2.5 ghz on air
s939 X2 3800+ 2.6 ghz on air
s939 FX57 2.7 ghz on air
s939 Opteron 155 (untested)

I am leaning towards the FX57 since it is one the better OverClockers for me.

Would an 805 on the right board provide more performance than the FX57?

I know the 3.0e can hit 4205 on water--but it was still not very impressive in the benchmarks...

The X2 ranks pretty good--but I am wondering if being dualcore it might be held back in some way.

And the 25X multi 2.5 might be a real surprise (if only for the numbers/not performance)

So what do you all think?

EDIT: I would need to find a good board for the 805--but for the s939 AMD chips I have a MSI Geforce6100 that might do the job.
Use your FX57 with this mb. It's been shown to hit nearly 400 mhz stable and here's an Open Box for $35. I've used a ton of these in builds.

I'd like to see the D805 with the 20x multi you may be able to go for 4.5 - 5ghz with a mobo that'll do 250fsb. I got damn close to 4.0 on water, I'd love to see what dropping the temps even more can do.

WTH--I just went and threw it in my cart at the Egg. Thanks! Is there any reason to be suspicious of Open Box stuff? Would I be better off getting the retail?

I buy Open Box often from the EGG and have yet to have a bad experience. You'll be missing the cables, but I'm sure you have plenty laying around to use. You also have the money back guarantee if you're not entirely pleased, but you will be That motherboard is one of Socket 939's secret gems

Okay the open box MSI NF4 is on its way...

I saw a few Intel mobos that might work for the 805....but they are not $35.

oops, thought it was a 165, not a 155!

FX-57 ftw!

FX-57 are usually better on phase than anything else. That CPU gets my vote.
