Are you averse to ubuntu / Mint or Suse for any reason? Im just trying to understand so no offense if ive missed something. Im getting with most (apart from the badly ported Killing floor) games exellent performance on an A10-5800k in fact apart from not running AA its faster due to drivers than my old saphire 5850 running on linux !
Games I play at moment:
CounterStrike Source 60 + fps high 1080p
TeamFortress 2 50fps - 60fp high 1080p
L4D2 60 + fps / medium 1080p
DOTA2 high 60 + fps high 1080p (looks lovely!)
Killing Floor High 1080p (not bad its about 80fps on high ! but can dip to 5 fps on certain effects so its a rendering thing)
Dont Starve 60+ FPS 1080p
Lots of other indie games running fine. And the A10's GPU is equivalent to a near bottom end cheapo dedicated card or one that would feature in a laptop.
I can understand if you want to make something different work other than the obvious choices but with Kernal 3.11 + Mesa 9.2 + Closed source Nvidia or AMD (( I have zero issue running closed source and in fact prefer it if it means consistent performance month on month without update breakage as opensource sometimes does)) it works for me with one click ?Edited by Pip Boy - 10/2/13 at 3:04am
