Try running it from the terminal, you have to call it via the "Steam URL" syntax (hopefully you know what I mean). You'll see any errors logged that way

Oh jeez I didn't even think of that. Only 5 months on Linux. I'll try that when I get home from work.

What could be the problem ?

By the way, why is that others here are still using Ubuntu 14 when there is already Ubuntu 15 ? Is it better for Steam games ? Should I change ?

Thanks

Poor performance, could be port quality, but I find that I get about 10fps less in CSGO under Linux using identical video settings, for which I blame the nVidia Linux driver

No its that they only put two devs on the Linux port of Dying Light, two guys who never used Linux/OpenGL and were learning from scratch on a limited time budget. There is a video on YT which they explain how they got OGL working and what they learned about it with the port.
It is not an amateur port as such but more experience and optimisation would have levelled the playing field. The other factor is the unreal engine of course which runs great on Linux but still there is a slight performance deficit and it will improve over time im sure, thats where the 30% performance drop goes.

As to your last point Vulkan should remove the possibility of blaming the driver forever more ! Its all down to the devs with Vulkan, no driver patches for games anything like currently on DX / OGL.

CRITERIA: If you would like to join, simply post with the following information:
1. Linux distro being used
2. Main games played on Linux
3. Level of experience with Linux
4. Any questions you might have

1. Linux Mint 17.3 Cinnamon

2. Currently playing Dying Light and XCOM: Enemy Unknown. I installed Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor for benchmarking purposes. Plan to play XCOM 2 on Linux once it goes on sale smile.gif

3. Super newbie on Linux. Still very reliant on GUI that is why I chose Mint over Ubuntu.

4. Why is it that some programs doesn't have a .deb installer ? I am so used to Windows that I don't have to connect to the internet when installing software.

I hope GOG Galaxy becomes available for Linux

I'm not sure on anything I'm going to say, as I didn't try it myself yet, but this is what I think is the state:

If you want to play games in a Windows VM you have to do that via PCIe pass-through of the graphics card. That means that you can not use that card in the Linux you booted into, so an extra card at least to get into the Linux is required. Also I heard that you need a fairly up-to-date kernel for this, which will rule out all Debian based distros (e.g. Ubunutu).

Here is a video of someone playing GTA V on Linux (Arch) though:

I guess in a lot of ways, modern Linux is geared around constant (or regular) internet access, and therefore access to the repositories (Software Centre).
In terms of gaming, I assume you've already installed Steam? What are the other programs you are referring to?

Just an FYI, looks like Humble Bundle has another indie bundle now (and I am pretty sure they are all compatible with Linux!).  Surprisingly, I don't have any of the games listed either, so it is kind of nice!  Can anyone recommend any of those games?

I'm thinking about getting it. I kinda want Doorkickers and Sunless Sea.

Yeah I definitely bought it... In all fairness, it seems like a great bundle, and there still should be more games being added.  :thumb:
