This has been a thing for a bit, but lately it's been getting more coverage or public interest because it's semi-recently become much more easy to do, which is great! I'd eventually love to do this, but my project has been put on hold since Ryzen came out. I upgraded to the Ryzen 7 1700 and since PCI passthrough isn't working really well on the new hardware, all of that has been put on hold for now. When they get it sorted I'll start working towards that again though.

Last I heard, an AMD card is needed for the passthrough gpu since Nvidia blocks anything but Quattro's for passthrough.
That's the last I've heard as well, nVidia making it impossible to pass their stuff through. Dang nVidia trolls....
