powercooler 7970 is it good?

Thread Starter
So the Powercooler 7970 is the cheapest 7970 there is and is it good for 1080p gaming like bf3 bf4 planetside 2

and can it overclock good?

I had one and it's really the luck of the draw, however I got rid of it because it was not a reference model, so depending on which one you are looking at and whether or not you plan to water cool, that might matter. As far as overclocking goes, I would imagine just about all HD7970's can do 1100Mhz or higher which should be good for most gaming.

if this is the powercolor you are talking about, then I say take a chance. it has unlocked voltages and uses Hynix vrams. not the best oc'er but mine does 1200/1600 and gets 11200 in 3DMark11 with my i7 at only 4.5GHz. have not pushed it yet.

the stock cooler will suffice but I heard the fan at around 55% playing BF3 maxed at 1080. my intel rig is watered, so had to this to include in the loop . . .

btw, even a 7950 can max out BF3 and PS2 at stock depending on your cpu and its oc. I had a 7950 and it played the same game settings as my 7970 at 1080 - no difference. I keep my gpu at stock except for benching.

checkout C2 (both gpu at stock)

7950

7970

those are my normal game settings.
