Hyper 212 EVO compatibility

Thread Starter
I'm thinking about getting a new CPU cooler. My Noctua LH-9i doesn't seem to be getting it down, so I'm opting for a cooler that I know does a pretty good job. I'm just curious if it's compatible and worth it, to spend $35 on. I idle at about 35-42 degrees now, with an i5 3570K in a Bitfenix Prodigy case.

I'm assuming, I could probably get 5-7 degrees cooler with the Hyper 212 EVO, and was going to buy it, but was deterred when I heard the backplate has a few issues with the motherboard I have, the ASUS P8Z77-I. I just want to know, does anyone else have the same MOBO as me along with the HYPER 212? If not that Hyper, then what would be a better buy?

I appreciate any input.
