Oh really, you think you can win this "competition" with anecdotal assertions? Speaking of, my phone line went bad a few years ago. The line had so much noise that for the most part it wouldn't connect at all, and when it did connect, it would at 8k. In the rare moment data would come through, it was less than 1 KB/s. On top of this, it wouldn't stay connected for more than 5 minutes most of the time. A phone tech came out and said the line was fine. According to him, if you can hear a dial tone, the line is okay - never mind the huge amount of noise! I knew the problem was on their end because the other phone line worked just fine. Additionally, I hooked up a phone directly to the outside feed and I could hear the noise on top of the dial tone. With the internet being unusable, it was either cancel my internet, or get a tech out that knew what he was doing. I went with the latter and the new tech knew what he was doing. He went up the road to a telephone box, changed the line over, and as expected, the problem was resolved. Unfortunately, I didn't get the first tech's name and he probably still has his job.
My current transfer rate:
Download: 3.2 KB/s
Upload: 2.5 KB/s
1 GB download time: 82 hours and 51 minutes.
In other words, my life sucks!
Me too, and not just because of my slow connection. Even hard copy games with Steam DRM won't work on my connection because Steam will just say it's "updating" indefinitely.
My message to AMD: even with the price cut and the games bundle, I still would choose the GTX 780 over the 7990.
