How much should i pay for a motherboard ?

Thread Starter
Hello !

Soon i will get a new PC (mostly for gaming), but my budjet is not that high.. so i try to cut some fat anywhere i can.

So far, i'm planning to get that:

i5-4670 (non-K)
8gb ram (nothing big, i won't OC)
Sapphire radeon 7950
Seagate barracuda 3To (will do the job until i can get a hand on a SDD)
600 or 650w PSU

Ok so now i have problem regarding which motherboard to pick.. there are so many. I don't want a total crap/bottleneck, but i don't want to put money in something i don't need either. So, which one should i get, considering that:

- I will not OC the CPU (i hope i'm not on the wrong forum saying that)
- I will maybe OC the graphic card (but nothing more than CCC would allow me to)
- I will never use more than 1 PCI slot
- I will probably get a SSD drive in the next 6 month
[EDIT] - i won't need crossfire/SLI compatibility

So, can i go for the chepest ones at 60-70$, or should i pay more ? Any one in particular that you think would fit my needs ?

Thanks in advance smile.gif

PS: I'm sure alot of you would suggest me to buy another cheaper CPU with that K on it and overclock it for better and cheaper result, and you are probably right, but i just can't. Everytime i build i PC, i think "oh sure, this time i will OC it", but everytime i got to do it, i have those thoughts of my CPU dying in flames, so i end up not doing it. (i ran a nice Q9550 for 4 years at stock 2.8ghz speed if you want to know)

I would stay in the $200 range so between like $150-250 at most. Cheap boards are cheap for a reason because they eventually fail because of lesser quality components.
