I would spend more and go with a trusted company. I never really liked them because they have more mixed reviews (some hating, some loving it) than most other RAM manufacturers.

I've seen a couple of people over the past two years using AmpX and they said it was good but that was a long time ago, and a lot of things have chance now that DDR2 is in such high demand.

Personally, I'd go for these modules instead: G.SKILL 2GB DDR2 800.

But if you want to try the Wintec AMPX? Go for it.

They seem to be pretty good, CAS 4 for DDR2 800 and only with a 1.9v? That's pretty good, so if you don't want to spend more, give them a try, I've never heard anything about the AMPX and the only two people that used 'em, said they were good.

ive got a 512 stick of the 667 or whatever it is in my am2 build, they are oced a some but nothing crazy, the chips on them are some kind of infineon on the ones ive got, i know the ampx use to have d9's on some of the models but that was a while agoand i cant say with the new batches,

get some and test them out for us if you want, and see what chips they have on them, you cant get much worse then what other poeole are throwing in there chips at the same price including the ram linked above not that those are bad,

oh yeah my 512 stick has the ram set to the stock 667 divider on my asus m2ne board with a 3800 x2 am2 that is running at 2.6 right now so they are oced pretty good i guess and all this with 1.95 vdimm since thats the highest my board goes

Some people claimed that some have D9.

I ordered some cheap DDR2-533 (Wintec Amp-X) from them (256MB for $24.99) for my neighbors rig. I ordered two, and gave him one. Kept one for myself. Took of the heatspreader, no D9.

His rig crapped out (PSU), so he let me have dibs on his parts. Took the RAM. D9.

Not sure how it worked out, but I turned around and "loaned" it to a friend of mine who has it at DDR2-688 on stock volts ATM.

Hit or miss I guess. My Wintec Ampo DDR does 238Mhz @ 2-3-3-8 1T on 2.79v from 3-4-4-8-2T @ 2.66v

They're decent.

Thanks for the info everyone. Hmmm it's a tough choice. I might take the gamble and let you guys know how they are.

Edit: I ordered the ampx. Hopefully everything works out. I'll post up a review when I have my system put together.

Right MadMax, I sure would like to see/hear good things about AMPX again.

It'll be great if you get to 1000mhz, not bad for $215......heck! or even 900mhz.

We'll be eagerly waiting on the results.
