Any reason why I should get a 3g if I could get a 3.5g or a 2013?

None, you can get 3.5Gs for dirt cheap anyway. If you know where to look.

The "smoothing" algorithm might be noticed on the higher DeathAdder(s)?

On the 3.5G it's pretty much non-existent, most people don't notice it. It's a bit more noticeable on the 4G but still most people can't even tell there is smoothing.

At the same time, it will take time to get used to the small buttons on that mouse, and you may want to get a mouse without those for the greater simplicity. I have never used a mouse like that, but I feel like it would have a decently steep learning curve to using it effectively.

If you buy the G500, you'll regret it. Trust me. frown.gif

The ergonomy is awfull. I feel that my fingers hurt periodically by holding this mouse. It's just off balance!
Then the middle mouse button is the main issue. I dropped my mouse a few weeks back and because of this the middle mouse button is broke (it scrolls, but clicking it is harder). So I unscrewed it and looked inside to how it was made. Then i stumbled upon this design of how it works, or the inferiority of it. Instead of a simple 'click' button, a touch sensitive button has been replaced an a spring holds the middle mouse button and that sensitive button apart. A strange metal is also here, but Idk for what.

So yea... It's not very durable, I suggest a different mouse than the G500. I'm now quite done with Logitech tbh.
