Will a 2600k bottleneck a 7990 ?

With the current price drop, i'm looking forward to buy the 7990. Would be an insane upgrade for my current setup.

But will my 2600k bottleneck the card? I also have a sandy bridge motherboard -> means only PCI-E 2.0.

Depending on the game. But most of the time it will be unnoticeable, in some games like Crysis 1 for example the i7 2600K might bottleneck the HD7990 noticeably in some parts, but there are no fast enough CPUs today to push Crysis 1 with 99% GPU Usage all the time. So you will be fine with a 2600K.

Maybe if the 2600k is stock clocked, but then again just about any cpu will be at stock clocks. Then again this ain't stockclock.net...

Still is at stock clock since I didn't need to overclock it (was about to). But now, im gonna overclock it at around 4.5+ ghz

1080p on up you should be fine. Even stock you should be fine. But 4.5+ wouldn't hurt either smile.gif
