I trust barbs and a custom set up way more than I trust the heat sealed stuff that CLCs come with.

It could potentially still get over everything, but because you use less fittings/parts, the chances are smaller.

Bear in mind, if you leak test without your hardware powered/on, and just keep a close eye on it, you'll spot the small leaks right away and there wont be any damage at all (also because of non-conductive fluid). It's really safe as long as you leak test!

A lot of people new to water cooling have a misconception of a leak....They do not typically spurt out and spray everywhere. It is typically a tiny pool around the leak that will form a water droplet that falls.

Always leak test and always leak test with hardware OFF. Use paper towels to catch any fluid that may drop from leaks and just keep an eye on it. I have only ever had 2 leaks and I caught them both within the first 30minutes of leak testing. Both were cases of me not having tightened a fitting to a block quite enough.

I was also worried about leaks when it came to watercooling until I actually assembled a piece of tubing to a compression fitting, holy smokes, what have I been worried about for so long... Can probably screw the fitting into the ceiling and then hang from the tubing without much issues (exaggerated for effect) thumb.gif

Anyways, glad you decided to go for a custom loop, alot of fun building and actually seeing it work in the end was very satisfying.

I couldnt even get the tube onto the compression fitting's barb, emailed the shop with pictures to ask if they made the wrong delivery lol. Protip: dip the tube in boiled (DI or distilled i guess) water for a few seconds to make it more easy to fit onto a barb! My Primochill primoflex advanced LRT was a pain in the ass to get onto the barbs...sore fingers..but at least I know it's a tight and secure fit wink.gif
