my new H80i is not running well - Page 3

The fans are loud yes, if you don't install the Corsair firmware and set it on medium or quiett. I think it defaults on high performance which runs at 2300rpm. My h100i was also loud without the firmware, but I now use BitFenix Recon fan controller and my fans at 1500-1700rpm and I don't hear them. Good luck! smile.gif

Reapply new tim clean cpu and block with 90% or greater isoropyl alcohol with q-tips. let dry apply a small rice grain size tim blob on cpu push firm snug and tighten in a star pattern. If temps are still high make sure your pump is working on the unit if it lights up it is probably working you can feel vibration in hose.

ok, was busy all weekend, just went and checked it.

indeed, the backplate was upside down. and when i took off the cold plate, the thermal paste had only rubbed off on half the cpu. an entire half wasnt even touching the cold plate, apparently.

I wasnt able to get any thermal paste, so i just left the stock sutff on, re seated the cold plate, and now, an hour into prime 95, im topping out at 58 degrees. im sure it would be even better with new thermal paste, but i dont have any and i HAVE to order it through amazon. so i'll wait on that, as this is MUCH cooler now.

and that's on the balanced fan profile. earlier i was maxing at 80C+ on max fan speeds.
