[SOLVED] $700-$900 Gaming PC Build

Thread Starter
So in about 3 or 4 months, I'm going to be building my first custom rig. I'm spending 700 to 900 dollars (as the title suggested). What would be a good build? I also need an OS (preferably Win8), monitor (preferably LED) and a mouse/keyboard. My goal is to run Skyrim at 1920x1080p at Ultra and get 50 fps.

EDIT: How's this? http://pcpartpicker.com/b/zlr

No chance mate. with that budget AND needing windows, monitor ,mouse and keyboard you cant max out skyrim. well not even any new games. the HD 7850 is an ok card for now pff(for value budget ofc) and i would go with i5 as it will beat FX in gaming anytime.

Your budget is too low for needing everything. Really reccoment at least a 1200 budget,as 250-300 will go for win, monitor, mouse and keyboard.

And your components cost 816 dollars WITHOUT the mobo. its prize is not calculated if you notice, so... even with the system you put together, you are already over your 900 limit.

an amd 6300 will game fine. yep need a better gpu. buy a cheaper case. forget the dvd drive. buy a cheaper mouse and keyboard. find someone to give you a win7 key. it isnt really that hard.
buy used off of this forum. buy used from craigslist. check prices in 3-4 months.
ive actually got a complete pc listed on my local craigs for $600 and its the absolute best deal on the entire site...

craigslist ? really man? might as well steal them. no insurance, no nothing. ....lol just get some stuff off ebay instead.

ex: a NEW UNUSED HD 7950 that is a beast card for only $265

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sapphire-11196-02-40G-Radeon-HD7950-3GB-DDR5-PCIE3-0-Video-Card-BTC-Miner-/181195579004?pt=PCC_Video_TV_Cards&hash=item2a30191e7c

the FX 8350 for $232

http://www.ebay.com/itm/AMD-FX-8350-Vishera-4-0GHz-Socket-AM3-125W-Eight-Core-FD8350FRHKBOX-CPU-/281149240365?pt=CPUs&hash=item4175ccf42d

MoBo $75(i cant see shipping but you will because you live in US )

http://www.ebay.com/itm/ASRock-970-Extreme3-R2-0-AM3-AMD-970-SATA-6Gb-s-USB-3-0-ATX-AMD-Motherboard-/130960694860?pt=Motherboards&hash=item1e7ddd9e4c

a dvd drive $26

http://www.ebay.com/itm/LiteOn-iHAS124-24X-DVD-RW-Dual-R-RAM-SATA-Drive-Internal-Black-/300943013361?pt=UK_Computing_Other_Computing_Networking&hash=item461199f5f1

A razer deathadder for $25(shipping in us must be cheap)

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Razer-DeathAdder-Infrared-Gaming-Mouse-3500dpi-3-5G-MMO-Mouse-/121158233428?pt=Mice&hash=item1c3597ed54

Keyboard (i have the same)

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sharkoon-Skiller-Gaming-Keyboard-000SKSK-/310679834019?pt=PCA_Mice_Trackballs&hash=item4855f60da3

The other components that are not here like
Case
PSU
Monitor
Ram

But if you dont want the fx8350 then get the fx 6300 and you will save $110

is ok to get them from where you found them.

All this for $1100

So if you could save just 100-150 more you can have an 8 core with and HD 7950 that will be truly a beast! Those items in 2 months will get cheaper.

FINAL LIST:

CPU(6300) $118
GPU(HD7950) $265
RAM $59
MoBo (ASRock-970-Extreme3-R2) $75
WIN8 $89
HDD $60
PSU $38
DVD $26
KeyBoard $30
Mouse $25
Case $80
Monitor $130

TOTAL: $995

So just save 100 more and you can have the hd 7950 that can play most games at max. Mine gets 35-40 FPS In crysis 3 all maxed except the MSAA is x2. A stable 60FPS with VS in bf3. And same for far cry 3...

Hope it helped mate!

Ok, without a mouse and keyboard and windows, I got it down to 934. This machine is kickass and will be able to play skyrim on ultra at 1920x1080. I'm taking advantage of promos, which you'll need to do make this system work. But pretty much there's always something on promo that will fit into this.

Sentey Extreme Division $44.99
Western Digital 1TB 7200 $69.99
Acer Black 21.5" 5ms LED Backlight Widescreen LCD Monitor $109.99
COOLER MASTER i700 700W lntel ATX 12V V2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Haswell Ready $79.99
Intel Core i5-4670K Haswell 3.4GHz $239.99
SAPPHIRE 100352-3L Radeon HD 7950 3GB$239.99
GIGABYTE GA-Z87X-D3H + Ballistix Sport 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 combo $154.98
$25 in additional discounts

Including s/h and taxes it's $939.92

You'll still to magically come up with keyboard, mouse and windows.
I have this saved in my newegg wishlist, pm your email if you want the links, everything is from newegg, so you might find some sites to get this even cheaper. There's also like $50 in rebates with the above deal. You can use that to get yourself a mouse and keyboard smile.gif

I'd suggest to get an i3 rather than an i5. He's not gonna get much from i5/overclocking with a 7950 GPU. Not to mention a stock cooler would have to be used. With an i3, he also would not need a Z87 motherboard and could opt for cheaper alternatives
Also, the PSU is a bit overkill for non-overclock and single GPU.
Otherwise, its is a great build!

yes, USA craigslist. no insurance? no nothing? what are you on about? do you take someones word something works? no, you test/try it out.
i bought a new in box 256gb crucial m4 ssd for $125 4 months ago and a new in box 128mb crucial m4 for $75 last year. 2 years ago i bought a black edition 5850 for $100 and could have had crossfire for another $100. i sold that 5850 on craigslist for $125 this year. yes i used that money to buy the 256gb ssd. ive bought and sold all kinds of stuff on craigs. you have to be aware of scams and you MUST take what you need to test what you buy. take what you need to show the buyer that what youre selling is legit and working. it is NO different than ebay except you dont have to worry about fed-ex or ups damaging your package.
seriously, watch craigslist. this guy is selling 2x 7970 for $250 each. will show in system both cards work 100%. dropped the price from $300 less than 2 weeks ago. are you telling me you wouldnt go check them out? or the guy selling 2x 680s for $200 each because he needs money now and can show both work in his rig before he pulls them?
whatever, do what you want solar. its your money and your choices of course. buy the best you can with the money you have. save if you have to but dont settle for less because you dont have the money now.

Sure go ahead and buy stuff from websites that are not specialized in this particular area. If you feel fine and safer by using that, good for you, i personally want to have refund if i don't get it or its defective and not by settling a measly deal with a random seller. N o, i will do it with ebay protection or with amazon or even with overcockers.co.uk that by what i know its the fasted delivery site . i live in Cyprus and i ordered an SSD at 7th of this month, i got it in my doorstep at morning of the 9th...

Maybe your craig web site is better that mine but then again i do not trust it.
