I'd also absolutely get a ModMIc over the Zalman. Read reviews if you have the time, but the consensus is that the Zalman is a cheap piece of crap with atrocious sound quality. Then again, if you're wanting to pay $3 for your mic, you might not care much.
$3k to spend and a lot of the parts are confusing, IMO. For USD, I don't see how that current build could cost more than $1500-$1800.
The 4770k has the newest tech, and from what I've read, I'll be fine without vt-d. I put my list up here in order to get advice and am definitely going with the modmic now. The current price total for this setup is $1900 minus tax. With two 9970's I'm certain that it will be around the $2700-$2800 (if not more) which falls perfectly within the price range i listed.
Edit: If you can show me where I can get all the parts listed except with x79 chipset + 3930k/3960x for the same price then I'll gladly listen. Edited by rusky1 - 8/12/13 at 9:20am
