I'm looking for a router that has 2 USB ports, one of which must be a USB3.0 port. The reason is one is for my multifunction printer and the other is for my USB 3.0 drive.

I have found 2 such routers:

One is the ASUS RT-N65U (2 x USB 3.0 ports)

And the other one is the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router EA6700 (1 x USB 3.0 & 1 x USB 2.0)

The problem with the ASUS one is that it has (or at least had) an issue with interference with the USB3.0 connector and the 2.4 GHZ band: when the drive is plugged in, it drops the connection if in 20/40 MHz mode. If you keep it in 20 MHz mode, it doesn't drop the connection, but the throughput is very low. The reason is that at the time the review was written, there was no shielding of the USB3.0 ports inside the router. Other brands have solved this, but only one other model (that I have found) has 2 USB ports with at least 1 USB 3.0 port (Linksys EZ6700).

The problem with the Linksys is that it's only on the European web site and not on the U.S or Canada web site. I haven't found it anywhere for sale other than Ebay, and they want over two hundred bucks plus shipping and taxes for it... No thanks - I want to buy it at a store, not some Ebay dude in Europe.

So, now I'm wondering what to do. Does anyone know if Asus fixed this problem? Does anyone know of another router that fit my needs?

Thanks! smile.gif
