Change Paint Bucket to Gradient Tool than pick the two colors you want, click and pull the line the way you want it to fade and let go.

That's a gradient fade, but he's talking about fading a picture from color to B&W.

Use your selection tool. Highlight the area you want faded, then go to Select > Feather > Enter the amount you want faded (higher the number, the more faded. You may need to play around till you get the desired effect) > then hit Ctrl+x.

im talking about using a regular pic with color, and fade it white , almost like the gradient were it fades from one color to another, but i would like the pic to stay and blend into a white

the top part of this site http://www.redcross.org/, hoe the picture fades behind the words American Red Cross celebrating 125 years....

i imagine if you use your image in replacement of the "metal button" it should work.

Oh than change the Opacity of your Eraser and by hand make it fade in yourself . There are better ways to do this but i do most my work by hand.

Copy that layer, take the color out, do a transparenting gradient over it then lay it over the original layer?

this seems to be harder than id thought, lol, nothing seems to be working, the closest ive got is using inner glow effect but it makes the fade come from all sides, not just the right side
