I have a Sound Blaster ZXR and Logitech Z-680 speakers, and would like to get Dolby Digital Plus if possible through my optical connection.

The ZXR has encoding options for Dolby Digital Live (and DTS), but supposedly Dolby Digital Plus is better. You basically have three options on optical:

- No encoder

- Dolby Digital Live

- DTS

I believe my Z-680s came out before Dolby Digital Plus, but I'm still wondering if anyone knows a way to get it via optical with this setup.

Vudu has movies in "HDX" which is similar but not quite as good as Blu-ray quality: http://www.vudu.com/movies/#more_info/422229/Oblivion (look in "more info").

I'm wondering whether going with "No Encoder" means I'm getting Dolby Digital Plus, but when I do that it just shows stereo on my Z-680s and I'm not getting surround sound.
