Hello there! That combination should work fine, but it is not certified by Gigabyte. You will have to get a workstation motherboard for a 100% Xeon certified motherboard.

Going with that combination you will also looe the option of using ECC RAM with the Xeon. You will also not be able to overclock the Xeon CPU because it is locked.
If you want the full benefit of the Xeon CPU, I suggest that you get a Xeon certified workstation motherboard. But if you do not care for ECC RAM, go ahead and get the Gigabyte motherboard!

Is there a reason you are going with the Xeon instead of a standard consumer level CPU?

That particular CPU has 4 cores/8threads for the ~price of a 4670k wink.gif

True! Great deal for the price! And if you ever get another CPU for your main computer, you can put it in a server for 24/7 use!
