7950 HIS IceQ X2

Hey guys

Just looking for some opinions on the HIS IceQ X2, all the reviews I am seeing are showing it is great and an awesome overclocker.

I had a HIS 3870 IceQ before and had no issues with it, but this was a long time ago so just curious how their reputation is. Can't really find much recent information online.

Trying to find out if its 1 6pin and 1 8pin. Some reviews say 2 8 pin, but the NewEgg site says one of both.

Also what is your guys opinions on this card vs a MSI GTX 760 Gaming (current card I have but I can return it as the 7950 IceQ X2 is a bit cheaper and seems more powerful - but every review I see is different and flopping which card is better).

OP first of all if you have a MSI GTX 760 Gaming how much is it going to cost to return that card. are you going to be charged a restocking fee. if you don't have to pay anything then go ahead and buy a HIS HD 7950 iceq x2 boost.

The HIS card runs at 950 mhz and is one of the best built HD 7950 cards. reference HD 7970 PCB. one 6 pin and one 8 pin power connector. unlocked voltage. more power phases than ref HD 7950. excellent cooler. easily overclocks to 1100 - 1150 mhz and will beat even a 1.3 Ghz GTX 780.

also this card is massive at 311 mm long. make sure it fits in your case.

One warning. I have this card and it is very good, but it has coil whine out the ***. Very annoying.

Thanks for the replies guys. Seems like a very nice card. Newegg said they'd take my card back as well as no return shipping or restock fees (having some driver issues with the newer NVidia drivers).

But the customer rep put that my card was defective under the reason for refund - which it isn't, only driver issues and small ones at that.

I think I ll cancel my Refund as I did read a few reviews/opinions on the HIS ICEQ 2X having coil whine and the PWM/VRM(sp?) making excessive noise under load.

Looks like a sweet card especially only being like $10 more, but I think I won't return my card to Newegg and live with my decision until my next time to upgrade. I'm only playing at 1680x1050 so I should be fine anyway.

Thanks again

OP given there is no restocking fee and no return shipping there are other HD 7950 cards worth considering.

Gigabyte HD 7950 runs at 1 Ghz out of the box. 1.1+ Ghz overclock is common with few hitting 1.2 Ghz at stock voltage. here is a user feedback on the card
