Low profile cooler for Asus ROG Maximus VI Impact biuld - Page 2

Hey you should try this cooler Scythe Big Shuriken II Rev.B

It has a height of 58mm.

Seen this cooler run with Intel Core i5 3570K.

At load running 4.5ghz (1.35V) and the temps were about 50C @ 100% fan speed.

Haswell is running on lower voltage and thus less heat overall, so this fan should fit your needs.

Thanks! 50C @4.5ghz OC would be perfect for this build, but from all the benchmarks I had read about this cooler, it has poorer performance than most other low profile CPU coolers and would run above 80C when OC. Are you sure that you get 50C running @ 4.5Ghz OC?

As i said the benchmark i saw was with last gen and they got about 53 c.
This was done with prime95 oc running 4.6 but the pushed the fan to 100 % however as i stated haswell is running on about 1.2xx V overclocked and its much lower than previous gens. This would mean much less heat generated. Tho i wont be able to tell you 100% that you will have your cpu temp running @ 50 atleast if you dont ramp up the fan speed. More testing is required.

I doubt it. I'm getting 60c under prime 95 at 4.5ghz, 1.13 volts with my 3570k using a Thermalright Silver Arrow.

Thermalright Silver Arrow has much bigger heatsink than Scythe Big Shuriken II and it uses TWO bigger size fans, and you get 60C, so there is no way Scythe Big Shuriken II can achieve 50C @4.5Ghz under full load.

Maybe he was talking about idle temps ?

I'm hitting about 40C idle.

Just wanted to chime in and let you know that the scythe big shuriken 2 rev. B won't fit in the asus maximus VI impact. The voltage daughtercard is too tall and interferes.

Hey guys!

This the perfect thread for me as I just bought the Maximus VI Impact motherboard and I'll be faced with the same issue.

The only difference is that I have 60mm clearance between the mb and psu (small form factor Silvestone 450w) and I'll be using a Lian Li PC-TU100 case , which also has an 120mm fan in front.

Wonder if any decent-ish cooler might fit considering the case and Mobo , be it air or aio watercooling.

Will buy either a 4670k or 4770k and would like to go with a decent-ish OC of 4.2, not dreaming of 4.7 like my 3770k delided and watercooled.

Please share your thoughts and opinions on this smile.gif

Bear in mind the Maximus VI Impact as well.

Thanks in advance!!!
