Upload speed Twitch Streaming

My brother and I are going to start streaming soon.

We have great systems (will provide specs if applicable) and we've got a solid 4.23MB/s upload speed.

if we both stream at the same time at 720p will we be splitting that upload speed down the middle?

Yes.

I've got 2.5mb/s upload, and it's pretty good for 720p.

If you can set your stream bitrate manually, make sure that your combined rates still leave enough room for your multiplayer gaming (assuming that's what you're doing). Also, you get 4.23MB (megabytes) or megabits? That's going to be important when you're setting up your stream bitrate. Most apps use megabit or kilobit as units when configuring.

You will probably throttle your connection and in-game latency will be an issue. Every ISP will be different but I have 5 Mbps up on my cable connection and couldn't even stream at 4 Mbps without latency issues in-game. 2.5 will be fine for 720p 30fps but if you plan to do 60 fps I would say 3.5 bare minimum. I stream 1080p60 at 5Mpbs and a low bitrate 720p at 2.5Mpbs off a second connection.
