900D Build - Angled Fitting Question - First Time Water Cooling

Hello,

I am getting ready to order my parts for my first time water cooling build and I have a question about angled fittings.

I am using a Corsair 900D case with two 480 mm radiators (one up top and one in the lower compartment), a CPU water block, a GPU water block and a dual bay pump and reservoir; all made by XSPC. I am going to be using Monsoon fittings, and they also offer 90 degree, 45 degree and T-Fittings which are essentially extensions because you need to use a compression fitting in conjunction. I did not account for any of these angle type fittings in my build and I am having a tough time wrapping my head around how many I would need of each. I really do not want to order a bunch since they are $10-$12 a piece, so I am trying to get an idea how many might be useful.

I am not sure yet what order my loop is going to go, but it will be one of the following:

Res >> CPU >> Top Radiator >> GPU >> Lower Radiator >> Res

Res >> Top Radiator >> CPU >> GPU >> Lower Radiator >> Res

Does anyone have a suggestion as to how many of each 45 and 90 degree angled fittings would be useful to achieve a clean/easy build?

I appreciate any help that anyone is willing to offer as I am very new to this.

What I did for my build is making a basic render of it using Google Sketchup (free for 30 days ithink). There's a place called "3dwarehouse" that has a lot of models uploaded to it, possibly a 900D also. My 800D was on there anyway. Also some basic but sometimes outdated ocmponents that you can use to place inside your case. You'll have to get used to the 'controls' for about 10 minutes but after that it can really help you decide where you are going to put things etc.

When you have your motherboard/radiators/basic components placed in the case, you can just use Paint to draw the tubing on there. It will help you visualize where you would need an angled fitting for sure, and in some places where you MIGHT need them. Just imagine your tubing bends a little bit, so if you want a clean look, everywhere you'd want a straight line you might need a 90 or at least a 45 degree fitting.

I wouldn't use too many 90 degree fittings though as they might restrict your loopa lot (depending on the pump you'll be using).

So yeah Google Sketchup + Windows Paint helped me a lot thumb.gif

Thanks for the reply, it is a good suggestion. I have sketched things out on paper and and in Microsoft Visio but I am having trouble. I tend to be a person that really is good at planning things out (I have done 2 months of research before this build) bit this is still hard for me to plan.

Does anyone have any other suggestions? Maybe someone with a similar build or maybe just someone who is good at putting it all together in their head. I am not looking for an exact how to, just some suggestions or estimates.

Thanks,

Actually, with a case like that, you wont NEED any 90 degree fittings mate. You can still make it look clean without them, but lets say you order 3 JUST in case. I personally like the look of a 2 45 degree fittings in the CPU block (some blocks may even need that) and if you go the Res >> Top Radiator >> CPU >> GPU >> Lower Radiator >> Res route, you could put one more 45 degree fitting in the inlet of the GPU block as well. Makes it look really nice and tidy right there thumb.gif

Maybe 1 45 degree fitting on the outlet of your GPu block, depending on what side of the case your bottom rad's ports are. Possibly 1 45 also for a top radiator outlet.

In my opinion, because you have a pretty simple loop, just get 3 or 4 45 degree fittings so you can make things look just a little tidier where possible, and 1 or 2 90 degree fittings just in case. I highly doubt you'll need the 90's with your case and loop though.
