SB - How many pumps would you use per loop? What configuration?

I'm attaching a rough diagram that shows the planned layout and measurements (displayed measurements are in inches) of the the setup. There will be two loops running in parallel and each will essentially go Res>Pump/s>Block/s>Rad>Rad>Res.

My main concern is the 43" upward return to the reservoir. I suppose it will be leveling out up to the height of the pump so it's essentially only fighting 12-14" of rise. I'm not exactly sure if it works that way though, so maybe it will actually be fighting the whole distance.




Based on the experience others have seen in regards to pump limitations..

-Would one PMP-500 be enough to make the return?

-If I was to run two, how well would running them in parallel work? Something like the quick diagram below.. I've always been curious if it's actually inefficient to run pumps in series. For my setup, if I need to run two pumps per loop, I feel like running them in parallel would net me more pressure to push the water back up to the res.

Personally, i would avoid the headaches of parallel pumps. Either go series or a single pump. If I remember right, in series, your head pressure doubles. That said, a single pmp-500 has more than enough head pressure to do this loop (nearly 25ft). Really, all you are adding over a typical tower setup, is another 12" you have to pump. A single pmp500 will have no issues pushing this as a single loop either.

**The loop will have extremely complex channels that will handle large amounts of flow. I will try to balance restriction and flow (restrictions will need to be added) but ultimately this setup will see its greatest and essentially only restrictions at the blocks while every other part of it will be able to move massive volumes of fluid.**

Both loops will run through something like the midplate of the Neptune Trident build (example pictured below).... but think.... "MORE".. or maybe "A F*** TON MORE". I will have panels with enough fluid channels through them that they will be holding more liquid than most reservoirs.



The loops are sure to need more pumping than standard builds... I just don't know if more is beyond the limits of one 500.
As a note... I'm rooting for 1 pump per loop. Just want to be sure.

A rough estimate on that picture, is about 10ft of tubing, including the plexi. I still think a single pump would handle it just fine along with the components. The components themselves will have more restriction than those water channels/tubes/bends. I would not want to run through two sets of that though on a single pump. A series setup could do it, but dual loops would be a better bet. Again, single pump per loop should be fine.

I just added up a rough estimate myself and you're about right on. I allowed a bit more headroom knowing my plans and it still comes out around 12-15'.

As a note... Each loop will travel through complex acrylic channels a number of times.

Either way though, now that I've actually discussed it with someone I feel more secure in my original plan of 1 pump per loop. I suppose I could have just thought about it a bit longer to figure this out but it's always so much quicker with extra sets of eyes.
