I have bought at both ends for DDR3.
Got 4 gigs Patriot DDR3 1066 for $109, a few months later got 16 gig Corsair DDR3 2000 for $55.

Thing is low and medium classes total cost of living (health care, energy, food, education, transportation etc) were increasing and are still either incrasing or stale at best while income in last year got lower. Inequality in sociteties are rising and majority of people getting poorer hamper purcharse power and willingness.

I am not going to buy overpriced (and I will decide myself if they are overpriced or not) hardware anymore smile.gif

Welcome to inflation.... It sucks.

That's not inflation.... US inflation is under 2% which is pretty low for our current monetary policy.

2% inflation is still devaluing (stealing) 2% of your money every year. This is made even worse with ridiculous and market manipulating 0% interest rate policies.

And if people look into how various inflation numbers are calculated, they'll at the least develop a raised eyebrow any time the government promotes those numbers.

Sort of like U.S. unemployment numbers that drop only because they stop counting people. Which is why "workforce participation" is such a popular topic now instead.

Awesome hope all the manufacturer do the same thing especially Corsair.

Inflation, devaluation, and stealing are all different things.

If you think inflation is "stealing", who EXACTLY is doing the stealing? All the other people who are spending money? Or do you think all the companies are colluding to set prices?

Inflation is just another economic indicator. It's just a point of data among thousands of other points.

Unemployment again is just an indicator. It is what it is. You have to understand what it represents to know what it means.

Corsair does not manufacturer RAM. They have very little say in what DRAM prices are.

The 10 or so manufacturers and the big companies (Apple, Dell, IBM, HP, etc) are what set DRAM prices for the market.

The government and anyone else who gets to use that money before the devaluation works its way through the system.

The Inflation Tax

Quote:
All government spending represents a tax. The inflation tax, while largely ignored, hurts middle-class and low-income Americans the most.

Government officials stick to their claim that no significant inflation exists, even as certain necessary costs are skyrocketing and incomes are stagnating.

The transfer of wealth comes as savers and fixed-income families lose purchasing power, large banks benefit, and corporations receive plush contracts from the government — as is the case with military contractors. These companies use the newly printed money before it circulates, while the middle class is forced to accept it at face value later on. This becomes a huge hidden tax on the middle class,

About time RAM prices drop. It's been on the hike for many, many months now.
