Hi all,

I'm looking to buy an office laptop - no gaming needed. I just want a fast laptop for office applications.

What is your maximum budget?
$400-$500

What country are you in?
United States

What will be the uses of this laptop?
Office Work

Do you have brand loyalty or care which brands we select for you?
No

What screen size do you require?
17.3" or bigger

What screen resolution do you require?
1920x1080

Are you looking to buy NEW or would refurbished/recertified/used be okay?
New

How long should the battery last? (Under optimal conditions, no movies/games/heavy internet)
3 Hours or longer

What games would you like to play with your laptop? And on what settings?
Not intended for gaming

What operating system do you need? (if any)
Windows 7 Home Premium

Is there a certain style of laptop you want? (aluminum, black, gaming, etc.)
No

How much hard drive space do you need?
320 GB and higher

Do you need any special hardware? (blue ray, webcam, specialty ports, etc.)
No

Is there anything else we need to know?
Mostly this will be an office laptop with multiple applications open at once. It isn't so much for gaming - just looking for the best bang for your buck in terms of speed with office applications in the $400-$500 range.

1080p, 17" at 500$ is a hard find. Even if you do find it, it will lack performance. 17 inch FHD displays are generally reserved for the 4 figure laptops.

The base model "VAIO E Series 17" might fit your requirements. Office doesn't require much horsepower. What kind of tasks will you be doing?
Satellite P70 is a little above your budget but is on the cheaper side when it comes to 17" FHD laptops.

why do you require 1080p? If a 1600x900p fits your needs, you will have many more options.

I found this Acer laptop which I read the reviews from Newegg. They said they like it just for only basic use not for gaming.

Also upgrade the RAM to 8GB and maybe throw in a mSATA.
Buying a mSATA is all up to you, but I recommend you upgrade the RAM to 8GB as soon you get it.

It's not 1080p. It's 1600x900 resolution. Also, it's cheaper on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B009M3PP7O/ref=asc_df_B009M3PP7O2652463?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&tag=cnet-pc-20&linkCode=asn&creative=395093&creativeASIN=B009M3PP7O

That said, it's gonna be very hard to find a 17.3" 1080p laptop for under $500.
