[MacRumors] Size Comparison of a 12.9-Inch iPad with Smaller iPad Models and 13-Inch MacBook Air - Page 3

Not gonna happen. Ergonomically it doesn't make sense.

I detect the sarcasm, but if it was a retina display, that would be nothing short of AMAZING. biggrin.gif

I hope they make a larger iPhone though!

A larger iPhone would be great! Reason I went with the Lumia 822 is because it was the only android alternative that properly fit in my large hands without a case.

As far a a portable movie theater is concerned wouldn't a W8 tab/convertible be a better option? They have a micro sd slot for more storage and AFAIK you could plug an external drive into it as well (which would be great if you put all your movies on a portable external HDD). I will say the resolution might be a little off putting, but I find 1080p files rather large so the resolution shouldn't matter too much.

I'd say a 12.9 inch iPad would be more portable as it doesn't need to be opened. I expect it would also be much lighter.

I was going for more the storing part of portability, I doubt a lady/woman would have a purse big enough to carry it around in it (I know a bunch who do this with their regular ipads). At that size, a laptop bag/backpack seems like the most practical way to transport it.

I know that you personally don't know the answer to this question, but can they really make a bigger screen lighter without risking the durability of it, I feel like a decent fall would be pretty bad for it. Maybe it is just me, but it seems like a larger, lighter screen would be rather susceptible to flexing.

I agree, I think it would just be weird holding something so large. Also if someone is like me, where they hold it from the bottom and not the middle, won't they have to use their wrist more to keep it from tilting backwards. Wouldn't that lead to fatigue/wrist issues.

No it would be more difficult for storing -- it wouldn't be for everybody, but for those like myself who require none, or little portability, it'd be pretty great.

The display is already very thin, I'm not sure they can make it much lighter and if they can, I don't think it'll be the majority of weight savings. I think it's going to be in the casing and battery. And no it shouldn't be susceptible to flexing at all.

I think all of my concerns/questions about this size of a tablet are due to how they are going to market it.

At the end of the day, I just wish apple the best of luck and hope they make more solid options for people as that's the only think I have every really disliked about their products (sticking with making the iPhone small to keep it "one handed" which is too small for someone like me with massive hands). Android has the problem where they have so many different things that they can't make them all high/higher end, no quality (high-rez, high spec) 8" tablet from a name brand [can't stand those cheap knockoff brands].

And wow, I must have been over-thinking/not thinking at all when I was talking about flexing. I completely spaced out and forgot about the stuff behind the screen. doh.gif Yes, making a lighter battery would definitely make this lighter without causing any durability concerns.

I don't expect we'll see it this year, but it would be pretty cool if we did.

I will finally feel like I'm out of Star Trek upsidedwnsmiley.gif

Pristinely white, with smooth rounded corners,
I'd give congrats to the dead Steven Jobs,
But I'm now aligned with product mourners,
Thanks in small part to feminine mobs.
The fairer sex is not really to blame:
Focus instead on the marketing team
Who should writhe in hells of eternal shame,
For giving a name that shatter'd a dream.
When my user space was cluttered with porn,
I sent my my device in to get it clean.
Drugstore mishandling left a sopping forlorn
Chromatic inverse of the color green.
In shock, my MaxiPad, all soaked with blood,
fell to the floor with a sickening thud.
