How to re-install Battlefield 3 after a fresh windows install PHYSICAL COPY NEEDED

Thread Starter
Please note you must already have battlefield 3 downloaded and the game saved onto a spare disk, this works with only the physical copy

(as i've seen thus far)

CAUTION: Origin can overwrite the Battlefield 3 folder if you click "download" and not install from the client, have not seen with the disc, but you will install from the disc on your DVD drive D:

SO IT IS ADVISED YOU BACKUP YOUR FILE! AND COPY AND PASTE! NOT CUT!
_____________________________________________________________

1. Install Origin

2. Log in

3. Drag "Battlefield 3" To the Origin game install folder (ex: origin games)

4. Mount or insert the "Battlefield 3 Disc 1"

5. Install from the disc, and accept the TOS

6. Game will launch Origin if it has not already been and install directly to 99% and ask for the 2nd disc

7. Again insert or mount "Battlefield 3 Disc 2"

8. When the game finally starts to update it will be reading the contents of your HDD game

9. (optional) Click repair install to ensure full installation

10. PLAY!

The key as i see it is to not click "download" but "install" as i saw a thread about people reinstalling AFTER they
already had Battlefield 3 installed, this will work from a fresh install of Windows 7.

So at this moment i am buying battlefield 4 in the physical version.

This is a simple loop-hole that i found out while experimenting on my friends computer today

I assume many have discovered this but wanted a thread to share this!

See you on the Battlefield soldier!

Mmmm, but isn't the install itself the same for both types of copies? (digital vs physical)..

So all you'd need to do is drop the backed up Battlefield 3 folder into Origin Games, Open Origin, Click "Download" and it will re-install almost immediately.

That's what I do every time I re-install Windows.

There is another way if you have the BF3 folder with expansions and things

You have origin installed then click download, you let it start to download then pause, copy your BF3 folder into the download location then it should do the last stages of the install thumb.gif

Or at least that use to work, not sure if it still does thinking.gif

Wish id waited but it doesnt matter. IM never redownloading this again

I don't know what to tell you guys.

Same here, I keep an Origin install folder on another SSD to use when reformatting.
