Onboard Realtek ALC1150 sound lag

Since I bought a new mobo, asus sabertooth z87, I have started using the onboard sound card.

I have a pretty annoying problem. There is this repeating sound lag and it sounds like it is trying to catch up. The issue is present (and most noticeable) when just using winamp with no other programs running. It does happen in games also. The music will hang there for a fraction of a second and jump/skip forward, or it would slow the music down to play it. The 2.1 desktop speakers and the front panel headphones have it.

The obvious is to believe that it is load related but it happens even on the desktop, ie nothing running.

Re-installing the latest (and only) drivers does not solve it. I have no other sound-card that is compatible ( I do have a xonar ds but does not fit the pci slot).

Any ideas?
