So I'm having a bit of an exchange with KimRom on Reddit regarding the SS sensei and other SS mice - Page 4

Lower DPI in itself isnt better... it's lower sensitivity that is highly regarded as better! Because of consistency and all that.
This is why you have the option to adjust your sensitivity ingame, all mice doesnt have the same amount of DPI and therefore you can adjust it ingame. If I use 2000DPI, 400DPI or even 4000DPI it wouldnt matter! Aslong as the performance and my inch/360 remains the same. And THIS is where native DPI comes into the big picture, the DPI setting that should give you the best performance.

@superior

Do you use 1.5 or higher sensitivity with 800 CPI?

A lot of people use 400/450 and have a sensitivity over 2. Those that use 800/900 tend to use a sensitivity higher than 1.4. In other words, a lot of players use more than 800 "CPI" in-game. 400/450 isn't a speed most people need. I need it, but most don't use it.

In CS these days you can use raw input and below 1 sensitivity if your mouse has high CPI. I use the higher steps of the Zowie mice and set my sensitivity below 1.

Funny you say that, I use exactly 800 dpi and 1.5 sensitivity.

No I'm not, I'm simply annoyed by you unjustifiedly bashing it in every thread because it isn't good for you. I'm simply playing with it because out of all the mice I own it feels best to me, especially the shape is more comfortable than the Savu which was superior in other specs. Your whole reasoning with consistency of its polling rate is funny seeing you use a mouse with a sensor that has random accel. That annoyed me much more (yes I tried them) than any polling rate instability that I can't feel at all and that has never affected me at all.

Just stop your bad mouthing of it and everything is fine, because I can understand that the FK is not for everybody. But so is the Sensei and any other mouse. They all have flaws and everyone has to educate himself enough to be able to chose what's best for oneself.

I'm a little irritated that he can't refute any of my arguments with specific objective replies. I think it's a huge cop out to say "the sensei won tournaments" as refuting my objection to it not being the best tracking mouse out there by a long shot. Anyways, mods delite if inappropriate, but I thought it would be interesting for you to see. It's not often I see kimRom interacting with the users unless there is a product that needs hyping before release. rolleyes.gif

First thing you did wrong was thinking you can have an intelligent and rationale debate on Reddit. That place is a cesspit.

What annoys me about the AM and FK is the MCU latency; /the weird choice of not going for atleast one non-interpolated DPI step like 400/800 (Correct me if I'm wrong about the 800 being native on the A3090).

Also, the unstable hertz and the mouse itself "scratching" the surface you use is something I wish Zowie would use as feedback for their future products.

I hope the Aurora is good. Maybe I should give the Kone Optical a try...

I guess I am smarter than people give me credit for.

You can use the second step of the Zowie AM/FK. It's ~1200 CPI, the speed you use in game. Gives you a lower sensitivity in game which, makes things more precise. Also the delay on the 1150 step is unnoticeable by most people.

The 500Hz polling consistency isn't that big of a deal. At least it goes up in Hz not down. The DeathAdder 3.5G seems to go down to 500 on the 1000Hz setting, which is far worse than what the Zowie mice do.

I had conversations with workers at Zowie Gear. I let them know about everything that is wrong with their mice. This was during the time (what is now) the FK was being developed. I talked about changing switch actuation force, apex, scroll wheel area [mold], scroll wheel, stress relief, button pre/over travel, mouse feet / bottom mold design, lens, SROM, etc. So, whatever wasn't changed will likely never be. Oh, I also asked if there would be a white version for the FK on release, they said there is no plans to release another color. The new coating is supposed to give better grip, so no need for glossy, this may change in the future though.

Very interesting. What was their response? Did they at all even care about your feedback?

I cannot say they listened to anything I said. They did ask why they should do certain things differently. That bing said, the FK does have a lot of what I suggested, but that doesn't mean it was because of me.
