Transporting Rig

Thread Starter
Good afternoon,

Random question for your guys, asked this in my motherboard thread with no response. I have two dual-slot cards in my system, and I'm going to be moving soon and transporting the computer. Do you guys think it's necessary to remove the GPUs for the move? Any chance the PCI-e slots could suffer any damage with the cards installed while transporting? If there is any chance that it could be damaged, then I'll remove them, but I'd rather keep them in the system because I'm lazy. Thanks in advance for your opinions!

I'll just be moving about 20 miles away, transporting the system in my car. Will be traveling over some rough road.

If you transporting it yourself and you make sure that it won't tumble or get dropped, it will be fine with the GPUs on. What cooler are you using?

You should be fine.

I have 2 x dual slot gpu's in mine and I transport mine around 70 miles to attend lan events.

I either lay my rig on it's side on the back seat, and other time standing upright in the floor area behind the drivers seat.

I also use two screws to secure each gpu to the pci slots,

Thanks for the tips guys, and +rep to you both. I figured that I was being just a bit OCD, but now that I have a rig worth caring about, I thought I couldn't be too safe.

I'm using a Corsair H100, not any heavy air cooler. No reason to remove that either, correct?
