Logitech g500 help - Custom button

Thread Starter
I have the G500 and I can only program the customizable button to something that is in the Logitech gaming software.

I don't want to use any of these, and I don't want to assign it to a keyboard button.

I want to use the button for PTT in various programs. How do I do this?

Right now, the button works for PTT, but if I click it in my web brower, it makes the page go forward.

Halp pls.!

I may be wrong about this, so someone correct me if so.

You have to have the button assigned to something in order to use it. You can choose your own keyboard key or command. So if you can set your PTT in the the program to Alt (for example), then set the button on the mouse to register as Alt.

I have the Logitech G500S, but I haven't messed around too much with different profiles for different situations. Such as only having that button register as Alt during certain games. Or have it register as Alt at all times, thereby not causing the browser to go forward when pressed.

Like I said though, I haven't gone that in-depth with mine yet. I just have the middle button on the side of my G500S mapped to G for grenade in Battlefield 3.

I may mess around with this later sometime to see what happens, as I am curious now. I know they are different mice models, but the software should be the same for both.

With that being said, what is the most useless, and never pressed button on a keyboard?

You are not using the best Logitech software software for the G500. What you want is Logitech SetPoint Mouse and Keyboard Driver 6.32.20 for Windows 64-bit. It allows up 53 different functions to be assigned to each button of the G500. You can also create up to 30 (I believe) different mouse profiles within Setpoint although of course you can only have up to 5 stored in the mouses memory at any one time.

Hmm, I'm not sure on that one. I don't think I ever use the right Alt or right Ctrl keys. I don't know if it differentiates between the right and left ones though. Maybe right Ctrl, since it doesn't normally do anything thing when pressed alone. You could also map a combination, like Ctrl+Shift. It's all preference I guess. I would just choose something that isn't going to perform another action at the same time in the OS or another program.

As for the key you're trying to map, which is normally used for "Forward" in the browser, I'm not sure if there is a way to disable that action while still having it press your custom key(s) for PTT. Because if you're browsing while using PTT to talk to someone, you don't want it to go forward a page in the browser.

Hmm, I'd have to do some testing. I will let you know if I get a chance to.

You can have different profiles now that I think about it, and you should be able to set it up to where it will switch to a certain profile when a game/program is launched.

Though that still doesn't answer the question about the "Forward" button on your mouse. I'm sure there's a way to make it work as you wish. Though I can't say for sure without having my mouse in front of me and messing with it.
