What Radeon Brand has less RMA drama? - Page 2

Gigabyte and MSI have given me my best experiences so far. PowerColor is pretty good too.

Sapphire cards, I've had some bad experiences with. A lot of people have complained about Asus. Not sure about Visiontek, HIS, and Diamond though, I haven't had a card go wrong from them recently.

Gigabyte, MSI, Sapphire, XFX are ok I guess. ASUS doesn't replace defects with new cards, only refurbished and I've been hearing horror stories on the condition of the replacement cards.

None of the companies you mention will guarantee a new card if you RMA your defective card. They just guarantee you a functioning card.

That being said I work at a computer repair and retail shop and Asus is consistently the absolute worst about RMA and warranty support. I had to battle with them for 8 months once to get the proper battery from a laptop our shop ordered. It was advertised as coming with an 8 cell battery buy they sent us a unit with a 6 cell. They even admitted the mistake, eventually, but they still wanted us to pay for an advanced replacement after all the headache and hassle eight months later. My boss said nope and we just don't sell new Asus gear anymore.

Asus makes some good products but their support is consistently terrible. I am sure some people have had good experiences, even we have had a few smooth transactions, but more than half the time it is a big hassle. Our experiences with other companies is usually smooth as butter.

Oh, Diamond has poor support as well. We bought three of their low end cards, I believe they were HD3450's or something, and due to a manufacturing defect they all eventually came back with broken fan blades. It took three weeks to even get a response from Diamond, let alone get an RMA number and ship out the bad cards. We avoid Diamond products as well.

While I personally don't like xfx, I have found some of their non-reference products to be cheaply made and cut corners, I have never had a problem with their RMA process. In fact a couple times I have argued to get a better replacement and they have agreed. So I can say xfx could be a good way to go as long as you buy a reference product. In fact my 7970 is an xfx, the original black version, not this Double D card that so many people are having problems with.
