Connecting PC to receiver

Thread Starter
Feeling like an idiot, trying to hook up my pc to this Yamaha RX-V461 receiver and I get 0 sound.

I am trying to connect it with a RCA cable to my sound card.

There are a lot of elements that might affect your situation.

Your motherboard (Maximus V Formula) has an OPTICAL digital output on it. If you get a fiber optic TOSLINK cable, you can connect your motherboard optical output directly to your receiver's digital input. That would give you the best quality and simplest cabling solution.

You mentioned RCA cable -- Are you going from the analog front output on the PC to a Left/Right (red/white) analog input on the receiver?

Thanks Greg for the quick response. I want to test if the speakers are actually producing sound. I have an Aux cable to RCA that I can use to connect my phone. I so far tried putting the RCA cables and putting the RCA cables in the input under audio called "DVD" and tried playing Pandora.

Am I getting no sound because it knows it's not a DVD player?
