In a bit of a confusing position. - Page 5

I'll measure mine tonight but i am pretty sure it is not wider than my Mobo so it wont be wider than yours (I think). You are still talking about getting a MSI GTX670 PE OC not the £179 reference card right?

I purchase TIM remover from SCAN but I dare say you can get it from your local PC World (just wipe the CPU surface with a cotton bud or similar impregnated with the liquid). That is all. When you apply the new TIM use a thin line of the TIM straight down the CPU (this in my experience works out better than the old "pea sized" blob of TIM). Hopefully that will substantially help your temps!

I know you do not want to spend money unnecessarily but please consider buying an aftermarket cooler you can pick up something like this http://www.scan.co.uk/products/cooler-master-hyper-tx3-evo-cpu-cooler-92mm-fan-1150-1155-1156-775-1366-fm1-am3plus-am3-am2 or this http://www.scan.co.uk/products/coolermaster-hyper-t4-120mm-pwm-fan-cpu-cooler-for-lga-2011-1366-1156-1155-775-and-amd-fm1-am3plus-a which both appear to have enough clearance for the 155mm cooler clearance gap for your case.

At that price I may even decide to get a second MSI GTX670 PE OC myself and SLI!

A Hyper 212 is 159mm high according to the specs I have read in Scan and the clearance in your case is only 155mm (according to the bit tech review) between the Mobo tray and the side panel. It is a really great VFM cooler but will it fit?

Typical that even the fan I chose wont even fit in my case mad.gif is the smaller heat sink you mentioned going to be as good as the one I chose? It looks tiny but I obviously don't want to end up buying something thats not going to fit in my case.

Yeah, the power edition not the reference card, but I think I'll go with i5 for the time being,I could just save more money for a 7 or even 8 series card when they come out.

Edit - literally just ordered the i5 3470 and the tx3. Too late for the gpu now I guess. But thanks for the help with everything else mate smile.gif

You are welcome.wink.gif The TX3 does not cool like the 212 but its performance is pretty good on a budget. You seemed a little reluctant to work on your PC and had said you had little patience so i thought i should recommend a budget model that would fit easily and is very easy to instal because it uses the same attachment method as the reference cooler. As you said you had no interest in overclocking a I5 3570k i figured the TX3 would be an ok recommendation this review looked ok: http://www.techradar.com/reviews/pc-mac/pc-components/cases-cooling/cooling/cooler-master-hyper-tx3-evo-1041958/review

Hope all goes well and you get your temps down in the 20's C where they should be at idle! Once you get your temps down take another shot at your GPU overclock bet you do a lot better!thumb.gif
