3930K Overclock Issues (X79-UP4 w/ Raystorm RX360 kit) - Page 3

Well, I spent the majority of last night re-installing my Windows and Linux dual boot setup. I made sure to leave RSTe out of the equation. Everything looked fine, but I did get one random BSOD while I was just opening up my testing/monitoring programs... It was a 0xc2 "BAD_POOL_CALLER" and it restarted my computer instantly (it didn't even write to the Minidump folder), so I can't really do any investigation. I haven't noticed it again, but once my current stability test is done, I'm going to get Driver Verifier and do a once-over with it. It seems strange that I would get a BSOD after freshly installing everything... Anyway, I'm currently 6 hours into the Prime95 custom Blend test. We'll see how everything goes!

Alright, so I'm currently up past the 11-hour mark. Unfortunately, like an idiot, I forgot to disable Windows Update, so it's telling me that it's going to install updates (and thus restart) at 3 AM, which is about 5 minutes before my 24-hour mark. I really want a screenshot at 24 hours, not 23:55... Anyway, I'm running Prime95 at Priority 10, which means that it's practically impossible to open up any other programs while it's running. I tried to open Windows Update to disable it, but after waiting 25 minutes for the window to fully load, I gave up on it. I "closed" the window but it's still hanging there on the screen (everything else is running, of course). Hopefully it will go away at some point so I can get a clear screenshot. I might get lucky and the installation won't start because all the computer's resources are being eaten by Prime95... As a precaution, I'm going to go old-school and take an actual photograph of my computer screen at the 23.5-hour mark so that I can have some proof. tongue.gif

Quick question... The Blend test in Prime95 runs through a pre-defined number of FFTs before it loops and starts the tests over again. I am currently at 12.5 hours into my test, and about 62% of the way through the FFTs. At this rate, I should be finished with the tests by about 21 or 22 hours into the test. Am I gaining anything by testing the CPU through the full 24 hours, even when it's going to be performing the same tests over again?

Update: The system passed the Prime95 custom Blend test (using 90% of the available physical RAM) with flying colors! It ran for 21.5 hours, cycling through the entire list of 82 FFTs. Once it had looped over to start the list again on all cores, I stopped the test. It appears that the overclock is rock solid. I am running Memtest while I'm at work, and when I left the house, it was already 7 hours into the test, finishing up pass 5, with 0 errors. When I get home, I will stop Memtest once it finishes pass 10, and begin my 3DMark test. Once I'm satisfied with the 3DMark test, I'm calling it "good to go"! It seems that the Intel RSTe driver was the culprit in my earlier BSODs. The way those BSODs kept popping up many hours into the test made me feel like they weren't overclock-related in the first place. I hope this information may someday be helpful to others.

Well, the system passed a 15+ hour Memtest run, so it looks like I'm ready to go! The graphics test with 3DMark went well, too. My rig folds at 4.5GHz at a steady 60-61 C, so I'm quite pleased. Here's my CPU-Z validation:
