need fast internet to my ps3 (house not wired for LAN)

all,
so I recently bought a house. it was NOT wired with anything besides standard coax for cable tv. i have my cable modem/wireless router in my upstairs office with my desktop (gigabit LAN) and ps3 on the first floor...long story short, after looking i think it'd be basically impossible to run ethernet cable throughout the house hidden (down duct work etc) (so that also means no bare cat5e/6 cable running down the hall). its a brand new house so i want to avoid tearing into the walls. what would be the next fastest solution for maximizing bandwidth to the ps3??...for streaming hidef content i feel the wireless (a/b/g/n router) bottlenecks the ps3.

I have a 30/5 mb/s cable time warner connection.

i COULD run cat5e from the wall where the ps3 is into the basment (unfinished) and put the router down there, but then my office on the 2nd floor would have to be wireless and i dont want my main computer to be wireless....I'm thinking one of those powerline adapters like "TRENDnet 500 Mbps Compact Powerline Ethernet AV Adapter Kit (TPL-406E2K) " on amazon

if thats the route I need to go, whats the best one out there in terms of speed?

A good wireless connection is 54+ megabytes per second, plenty fast enough for that 30 megabit internet connection.

Apparently they are both megabits, my mistake.

yea you are correct...i was typing while thinking a few sentances ahead...heh..i do a lot of local streaming using PS3 Media Player off my desktop upstairs...surely my computer (see tag) below can stream/transcode fast enough...i can monitor my thouroughput (spelling?) tonight on the ps3 side, but i think the highest i have seen is 15-17 mbps?

do you think thats a function of the transcoding, or the wireless connectivity?

Probably just bad connectivity.

And also, it appears it is Megabits, I always thought it was megabytes on wireless cards. My mistake.

If you have an N(?) router, it should be able to transfer up to 300mbps.

Could try a powerline adapter. That's what I've been using the last couple of years. Click.

Edit: Wow, I must've skipped that whole last paragraph or something. This actiontech is the one I use, I get full speed.
