The only way that would have happened is if no other store in the world was allowed to sell XB1 games, which was obviously not the case.
Any other retailer selling XB1 games could set the prices at whatever they wanted, just as they do right now in order to compete with each other. One store has a sale today, the other a sale the next etc. Some stores just sell games cheaper than others.
Ms wouldn't suddenly gain the power to set the prices at which retailers sell games at just because they're in digital format (delivered via disc or otherwise). That's an assertion pulled directly from the sphincter.
If anything, the completely closed system allowing "microshaft" (really? is this IGN?) to set whatever awful prices they want is how both XBL and PSN on demand games work right now.
Any game that is only made available via download or just isn't sold in stores has zero competition in terms of pricing because you either buy it from the XBL/PSN store, or you don't play the game. End of.
If you specifically want a digital version, you pay the price of XBL/PSN (which is far too high imo), or you don't play the game.
With the old policy, any game you bought from any store would have given you a digital copy, meaning that XBL digital game pricing monopoly would end because every store (gamestop/eb/ebay/amazon) would be competing directly with the pricing on XBL as well as with each other. In the same way that you can find Steam store/Origin store game codes for cheaper than the official store prices from other retailers. More people selling the same product will only ever bring prices down. It seems people can understand that concept quite easily, but as soon as it comes to digital purchases, all their logic just evaporates into thin air.
Also, since both MS and Sony are allowing self publishing, meaning developers can set their own prices for titles, your assertion that they can just set the price for any game that they feel using their old system goes out the window once more.
I can't fathom how any mature person could be spewing this "MS were going to screw you over" line over and over. MS were offering a product and if you didn't like it, you didn't have to purchase it. Your logic is like me saying pig farmers are trying to screw me over because I don't like sausages. Selling something I don't like is not the equivalent of trying to screw me over, it just means I don't like what they're selling. I wouldn't have thought it was a concept that needed explaining, but then again this is internet.
Its like me saying Vauxhall are screwing me over by making their new Astra shape too sporty for my liking to the point where I personally wouldn't buy one because I don't like it/it wouldn't suit my commercial uses. Does that mean there aren't millions of other people who would buy it? Not at all. So why the heck am I going to behave like something I have the choice to not purchase if I don't like it, is screwing me over?
The only way for me to possibly think Vauxhall were screwing me over was if I felt entitled to a product that I like from Vauxhall and that they somehow owed it to me to make what I personally want.
oh its again Mr. "I created 70+ topics from which 40+ are about how great EA is". when will you finally get your EA PR Rep on the forum?

no no no, you are just jealous. Corporations like MS and EA are here to guide us on our way to bright future. We had the party in east to guide us but now the corporations are here to lead us. Dont you watch the Continuum show? You have another humanitarian at the head of a corporation there and what a great man he is.
I mean Bill Gates is the humanitarian of Millennium (grandson of a banker), because he really did not put all his money in a tax shelter to shield it from death tax, honestly he did not. I mean Warren Buffet joined him too and he is also known to be absolutely selfless. I mean thats the guy who bought shares in a lot of big banks and then made statement after statement until congress finally saved those banks. Dont you see, thats the same kid who saved so hard, that when he had 10years he managed to get a cow and when he was 12 years old he even got his own farmer land which he rented to a farmer. And he is a selfmade man, which had absolutely nothing to do with the fact that his father owned a brokerage and was a congressman multiple terms to get the needed connections
So again you are just jealous jealous man, who cannot appreciate what these great men and their corporations are doing for us. Whats next? Are you gonna tell us that Bill Gates didnot wrote DOS, that he bought it for 50k from someone, and had his mommy get him a contract with her friend CEO of IBM. Ou wait, he did, but he is still the humanitarian of Millenium and you are just a jealous jealous man
Honestly i would have wanted for MS to keep all those things on spybone, i mean if they did not change anything, it would be much more of a debacle. They will leave the backdoors inside it anyway and a lot of people will have it with Kinect plugged in online 24/7, so its only matter of time when another snowden comes out.
Anyway in two years latest, MS will try to pull off another 180 on customers. We can clearly say here that fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice ...
