You asked Ropey to "name a game that i cant max out (using a 7900GTX)". He then responded with Oblivion at a high res. I guarantee you that your 3800 X2 cannot even come CLOSE to a C2D (both using a 7900GTX) in gaming FPS. You may THINK that it can because going to little websites where they show minimal average FPS difference is the end all for you. Another thing I can guarantee you is that if you even TRIED half of the things you talk down on, your trash talk would end.

When you had a socket 754 sempron, you were talking down on Intel Presler dualcores and pretty much everything else Intel had to offer. Wise words coming from somebody who has no first hand experience whatsoever. I have personally used MANY computers ranging from 3800 X2's to 820 Intels to C2D's to Xeons. Have you? By used I mean gamed on and got a feel for the real world performance they had to offer. I can tell you that the 3800 X2 was nice in games, but was horrible in desktop performance compared to my old 660 single core prescott at 3.6ghz. Another thing I can tell you is that this 6400 of mine, even at bone stock, destroys ANYTHING I have used to date.

PLEASE consider your knowledge before posting in the future. There's a reason why these threads turn into flame wars, and you and me both know why.

The reason for this thread was to further spread the news that:

Core 2 Platforms are currently the BEST on the market for the price/performance whether you want to admit it or not.

Here is the deal, if you have an AMD Athlon X2 or FX processor then you may have noticed that it might lag in some games, while a Pentium D in an almost identical machine knocks it out of the park. This reason is because some games were not meant for Dual-core. Then why does the Pentium D run them? That is not the point that I am trying to make. You see, after several vigorous tests, the Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 OC'd can beat out the AMD Athlon FX-60 and it is so much cheaper. I am by-no-means telling you all to abandon your AMDs. It just seems pointless to buy an AMD CPU now that they are still more than the C2D (except maybe the 3800+). Also, there is a lesser risk of having to play one of those games that doesn't like Dual-core CPUs. I know EVERYONE is going to say it is because I am an Intel fan. That is not the case. I have played on higher-end AMD rigs and they are GREAT. They just have become obsolete, but remain expensive. Just make the right choice. I hopes this helps at least one person
This must be one of the stupidest posts I have seen in quite a while. You sound rather rediculous you know? "Just Make The Right Choice, you know, whatever I decide to tell you" Hey well that's rather stupid, what about those of use who got say an AM2 rig, which is quite powerful enough to do just about anything I want it to AND gives me all the futureproofness for K8L, which will probably knock C2D and C2Q out of the park. That's how this stuff works, each side one upping the other. So don't open your mouth again with stuff like "Make the Right Choice, I hope it helps at least one person"

One a side note, I have absolutely no slowdowns in windows apps or games thanks. And I really dont care about how fast an FX60 or an E6600 is when it's a whole lot more then I need.

The Reason an X2 lags vs. a PD, is because the PD has a split L2 cache, an X2 has a jointed one, so when functioning as a single core (in non-dual core games) the PD doesn't have to lug along the other core.

that's not it. He just used a crappy setup. Even mine doesn't lag in single/dual core games.
